'Pear Tree Farm had a great sale result on 12th August at the South Island Sale and were 4th highest on the vendors list of averages at the completion of the sale.

We were particularly delighted to receive $56,000 for the Danroad-Snow Reason chestnut colt who was purchased by NZB and will head to Hong Kong. He was the 2nd top priced horse of the sale and was the top priced South Island horse. We took five horses to the sales and sold all five. They have all gone to good homes where they will get the best possible chance of making it to the racetrack. We will follow their progress with much excitement.'

'On Saturday we hosted the Central South Island Owners and Trainers Stud Tour and Yearling Parade. We had lovely weather and the horses behaved beautifully. We recieved some great comments about how well the horses are looking and what lovely types all five of them are. Michael and I are really looking forward to getting the horses to Chch next week and presenting the draft to prospective buyers.'

We are currently adding a new stable block to the facilities at Pear Tree Farm.  The four new boxes will provide a fabulous base to prepare any horses for sales as we look forward the South Island Sales again in August.  At this stage we have three particularly nice colts to prepare for those sales.  They are as follows:   Danroad – Snow Reason chestnut colt, Handsome Ransom – Coulddankseallnite bay colt and Saperavi-Fleeting Glance brown colt.

We have limited space to prepare more horses for these sales if required.  Please feel free to phone and discuss this with Anna on 021 034 8039.

We are almost at weaning time again with some very nice foals to handle including an outstanding colt from Promiscuous by the young Willowglen sire – Minstrel Court.

We have been fortunate to have had plenty of rain over the summer and with the warm temperatures, the Pear Tree Farm paddocks are lush and green.

With winter fast approaching, we are busy weaning the last couple of foals that have just arrived.  Weaning has gone well and we have some lovely weanlings settled into our paddocks for the winter including some stunning foals by Saperavi.  Our three colts for the sales are currently being fed and covered and will soon come into the boxes - the weather is so good at the moment so we have left them out a bit longer than usual to enjoy the sun for as long as possible.  We are taking the following colts to the sales in August, Kingmaker - Quedar colt, Occidental Tourist - Sloane Ranger colt and Yaminan Vital - Kocko colt.  These colts are available for inspection at anytime - please feel free to ring and book an appointment to view them.

'Pear Tree Farm were delighted to sell their Traditionally - Ala Nami 2yo colt for $7000 to NZ's jumping trainer of the moment, Mr John Wheeler.  We were also rapt with the fantastic comments that we got on the preparation and turn out of the colt from many different people including Bruce Slade, Danny Ralston and Steve Davis from NZB. Many people thought that he was the best prepared horse on the ground.  We are now looking forward to heading up to Karaka in the summer and buying another colt to pinhook.'

On Saturday 25th July, Pear Tree Farm was included the South Canterbury Studtour.  The weather was perfect and around 40 visitors came to the property to view our sales colt.  The colt himself was well behaved and we had very good feedback in regards to how well turned out he was.  Also people were very impressed with our facilities and how much we have done to the property in the 3 years that we have been there.  We go up to Christchurch on Tuesday with our Traditionally - Ala Nami colt and are looking forward to a great sale on Friday 7th August.tradcoltheadshot
